Our nation is a nation of immigrants and this is a legacy to be proud of! However, illegal immigration is a serious issue that needs to addressed. Every individual who has hope of a better life should have the opportunity to come to this great nation, but lets do it legally. Immigration reform is the answer.
There is nothing more powerful than the human spirit and the power of hope. It's how we have all ended up here in this great nation. Those who came before us had the hope of a better life, the determination to do the right thing, and the intestinal fortitude to work hard and make it happen. Make no mistake, your citizenship, freedom, and way of life was built on the shoulders of our immigrant families from all across the globe. This is why our liberty still shines through a dark world! Constantly casting a bright light on what can be accomplished with freedom. It's why so many people want to come here. It's why so many people would risk everything just to touch dust from our borders. We are America, we are the physical embodiment of freedom, the physical embodiment of hope. This is why illegal immigration is such a huge problem; everyone wants to come to America. This is why we need immigration reform, so we can deter illegal immigration and encourage legal immigration. As a nation we need to take a hard look at what it takes to get here and come up with pathways that actually work. Programs such as guaranteed military service, guaranteed community service programs, shortened immigration wait times, and guaranteed work to citizenship programs. Simple immigration changes such as these, in conjunction with proper border security can substantially decrease illegal immigration while concurrently encouraging a legal pathway to the U.S. and continue offer hope to the next generation!

There are some that have come too this country who are willing to pay the ultimate sacrifice for freedom. Thousands of individuals serve in the U.S. military in hopes to someday gain their citizenship. Yet thousands struggle to get the government to fulfill the promise of citizenship through service. I for one feel that any individual willing to put on the uniform and fight for this great nation should have an automatic path to citizenship with all the rights entitled to every other active duty service member. In addition, these brave individuals who hold hope of the American dream in their heart are not shown equality while serving. American citizens serving the U.S. military are awarded BAH to support their families and know when they get deployed that their family will be taken care of. Yet, non citizens filling the same role are not afforded this basic benefit that should be given to every serving family unit. This is why I also propose that the immediate family of an active duty service member of the armed forces, regardless of citizenship, should have their family treated with the same respect that we show all service members and be granted citizenship as well to be awarded the same military family benefits as a citizen. These immigrants are willing to serve us, lets show them how much we respect that decision and serve them, through citizenship in the United States of America.
Lets do the right thing by our immigrant troops. Reach out and I'll show you how you can help.
There is something truly empowering to know that the next generation is taken care of. When it comes to immigrants of this country it is even more powerful. Some of the stories I have heard of how families have come to our nation truly move me and I am honored that people such as these exist in our world. Stories of hope through war, stories of liberation from tyranny, stories of a dream come true. All of us have a story to tell of how our family ended up here. This is why I want to make that legacy last! I have proposed a new bill called the "Lasting Legacy Act" (LLA). Which provides a legal path to citizenship for those willing serve this country for six years in the United States military. A legacy that guarantees citizenship upon completion of service and extends to the immediate family members of those who serve.
Lets build a legacy together! Reach out and I will give you all the info on how we can make this happen.
One of the most fundamental problems that goes along with illegal immigration is the toll it takes on our economy. Many people who are in this country illegally end up working under the table and never spending the money they make here at all. Rather, they send it back to their original countries of origin. This creates a vacuume affect that extends far beyond that paycheck. The individual takes a job that would otherwise be given to an American citizen. The operating company becomes financially liable to the IRS for the labor not reported. The local economy is never stimulated do too the money never being spent. And ultimatley everyone loses at the end of the day because although the individual working under the table is making money, they are also still here illegally and have no clear path to citizenship. In addition , this cycle continues with no end in sight. This is why it is imperative that we solve the problem of illegal immigration before it starts. We all want a better future, but lets do it the right way. If legal immigration is attainable, we are more likely to fix the problem on an economic level and put dollars back into our economy.

Although I strongly support the idea of immigration to this country, I also strongly support a wall on our borders. In a world of dangerous adversaries, it is a necessary tool that needs to be utilized. It not only creates a physical barrier of deterrence, but also equally provides the opportunity of enhanced surveillance. In addition, it helps our border protection agencies giving them more time to respond to security threats, saves money in costs of labor to support the mission, and works against illegal immigration as a whole. I realize that some may disagree with me on this stance. To those individuals I would say this. " I do respect your opinion on this matter as I understand this is a very controversial topic. However it is my firm belief that a border wall helps our country in multiple ways while providing a necessary security for our citizens."
If anyone would like to speak with me about this stance, I encourage you to reach out so I can hear your point of view.
Of all the important platforms I intend to stand on, immigration reform is one of the closest to my heart. I was born and raised right here in Southern California and I know the heartaches that go along with a broken family. There is a saying in this neck of the woods, "We didn't cross the border, the border crossed us." I have personally experienced the reality of what immigration laws have on friends, family, and all of those close to us. It's a topic that draws harsh criticism from both side of the isle and it's one of the reasons this issue has proved impossible to tackle. I feel it's because most politicians in Washington are just too disconnected from the reality of the problem. They don't know what its like for someone you love to be ripped from the country. They don't know what its like to leave your family behind in search of a better life. They don't know what its like to have no other option. I am keenly aware of all these issues and you can trust me to do whats right to take on immigration reform. Lets fix immigration reform so everyone wins. Lets create a clear, reasonable, and timely immigration process that restores hope, follows the law, and protects the integrity of our republic.
